Bird Boxes

The goal of the birdbox project is to improve habitat for wood ducks, screech owls, bluebirds and bats. The boxes were placed at various locations around the Tech Trails and Alberta. In Alberta the boxes were hung at the beaver pond on the Ogemaw Creek. The main obective is to mimic cavities in trees so that birds and bats will have additional nesting sites. The birdboxes are mainly used by secondary cavity-nesters who do not make their own cavity, but use cavities that have already been used and abandoned.
