Deer Exclosure

The deer exclosure project's goal is to study the effects of deer browsing on vegetation. Three locations were
studied. Site A was the Tech Trails. Here, the exclosures were placed around Canada yew. Site B was the Ford
Center in Alberta. A local population of deer yard up there in the winter. The target species at site B was hemlock.
Site C was used to study the effects of deer browse on hemlock as well. The location was the Prickett Dam, which is a major
yarding area for deer. Cabling and lag bolts were used to hang concrete reinforcing wire to make a fence
around a desired tree/shrub. At Alberta and Prickett Dam flags were also placed to mark some hemlock saplings.
The result for this project are not available at this time because the study is still underway.
