GIS
The FERM lab is equipped with a computer from the Hardwood Resource Utilization Group at SFRES. Use of this computer by FERM students has been generously granted. ESRI's Arc View software, as well as ArcPad, have been installed and are available. Map Maker, a GIS software package is also available.

GPS Utility
Download the GPS Utility freeware necessary to interface your GPS with your desktop PC. You will also find scripts and software to go between GPS Utility and ArvView with your data.

Forest Pal
Free GIS/GPS software including inventory solutions (both desktop and PDA) and arcview extensions.

X Tools (ArcView Extension)

Arcview Utility Tools Minnesota DNR Arcview tools for foresters. Includes acreages calculator, them intersection, buffering and more.

DNR Garmin Extension Works with Arcgis and Arcview both. Great tool for exchanging data between Arcview and most Garmin GPS units.
